Solfeggio Sanctuary vs YouTube for Solfeggio Frequencies
For a daily solfeggio practice, Solfeggio Sanctuary is the better tool: it generates each tone in real time on your phone, works offline and with the screen off, has a session timer and no autoplay or recommendations, lets you layer your own affirmations beneath the tone with Pro, and Pro removes the ads for €4.89 once. YouTube is free and has far more variety, including music and guided meditations, but it shows ads, removing them costs a YouTube Premium subscription (€15.99 a month in Italy), and you cannot easily check what a video labelled 528 Hz actually contains.

What each one actually is
Solfeggio Sanctuary
An Android app that generates all nine solfeggio frequencies, from 174 Hz to 963 Hz, in real time with Google's Oboe audio engine. You choose a frequency and an instrument (pure tone and tuning fork for free; crystal and Tibetan bowls with Pro) and the app produces exactly that tone, for as long as the session timer runs. The free version gives you three 10-minute sessions a day and shows ads. Pro costs €4.89 once: no ads and no daily limit, 60-minute sessions, the bowls, and a subliminal message builder where you write your own affirmations and layer them beneath the tone.
YouTube
The place most people first listen to solfeggio frequencies. There are thousands of videos, many of them hours long, ranging from a plain tone to music described as "tuned to 528 Hz", often with nature sounds or visuals. It is free with ads. YouTube Premium removes the ads and allows playback with the screen off on phones, for a monthly subscription.

Price: one payment against a monthly subscription
Both are free to start, and both show ads in their free version. The difference is what it costs to get rid of them. Solfeggio Sanctuary Pro is a single payment of €4.89. YouTube Premium is a subscription: in Italy it costs €15.99 a month from September 2026, so one month of Premium costs more than three times the whole Pro upgrade, and a year costs about €190.
Premium does far more than remove ads from solfeggio videos, of course, and if you already pay for it for other reasons, YouTube's ads are not a factor for you. If you do not, and you only want an ad-free solfeggio practice, the one-off Pro upgrade is much cheaper.
Accuracy: knowing what you are listening to
If you choose a frequency for a reason, you want to hear that frequency. In Solfeggio Sanctuary the tone is calculated live by the app, so 528 Hz is 528 Hz for the whole session, with nothing else mixed in unless you add an instrument.
On YouTube you get what the uploader made. Some videos are a clean tone. Many are music "tuned to 528 Hz", or ambient tracks with a frequency in the title, and there is usually no way to check. That does not make them bad to listen to, but it means the frequency label is a description, not a guarantee.
Affirmations: your words or someone else's
YouTube has a whole genre of subliminal videos: music or a frequency with affirmations hidden underneath, written by the uploader, and often with no way to know what is actually in the track. Solfeggio Sanctuary Pro takes the opposite approach. In the subliminal message builder you write your own affirmations and the app layers them beneath the frequency you chose. The text stays on your device.
One honest note, the same we give on every page: research on subliminal self-help audio found no effect from the hidden messages on their own (Greenwald et al., 1991). The value of the builder is that the words are yours and chosen on purpose. Read or say them yourself during the session as well.
Using it every day
A practice works best when it is easy to start and nothing interrupts it. The free version gives you three 10-minute sessions a day, enough for a morning, an afternoon and a bedtime session. Solfeggio Sanctuary runs offline, stops on its own when the timer ends, and has no feed pulling you towards the next video. It also keeps playing with the screen off, so you can put the phone face down for meditation or sleep. On YouTube, autoplay and recommendations are designed to keep you watching, and on a phone the free version stops playing when you turn the screen off. For a ten-minute session before sleep or meditation, those details make a difference.
